Justine, please don't ever let that garage catch fire, that would be too great a loss! Welcome aboard, hope everyone is treating you well, sorry I missed you last week!
Wolf, I couldn't agree with you more. That's the reason I volunteer with my local library as an adult literacy tutor, not only do I get to meet wonderful people (both my student, other students, other tutors and the people who run the program) it's incredibly rewarding work, not only do you get...
Ell, you rock. I don't hate sci-fi, I just haven't really read any sci-fi. I've been kind of leaning towards Alias Grace, though I"ve heard such great things about Oryx and Crake. To be honest, I've always just had a problem with Atwood, I've always found her rather pretentious, though I know...
I almost started a new thread on this, that search function comes in handy. I have an excel spreadsheet as my TBR list. author, title. Then the next column has a status of either "finished (date)"; "reading" "sitting, waiting" and those are sorted alphabetically within that column...
Okay, so I've been struggling to read Atwood since I was about 14 years old, and gave up around 18 and moved on. It's a few years later and I'm ready to try her again so am considering bumping one of her books up on my TBR list, should I try Oryx and Crake first or something else?
Nighthawk, if you enjoy Tuscan Sun, you MUST pick up Bella Tuscany, which is the sequel. The books are very different from the movies, I would almost consider the movie a fiction based on the books. Of the two however, I found Bella Tuscany to be much more languid and rich.
MonkeyCatcher, if you get a chance, pick up The Way the Crow Flies by MacDonald. I'm reading it right now and finding it a much easier read the Fall on Your Knees, and it's SO wonderful, I'm really really enjoying it.
luckily our library doesn't include the name on it. I do love looking at the ones that I find in the books I check out. I like to see what other people are reading!
I've actually never listened to an audio book, I've always found then too expensive for what I think I would get out of it. I prefer the real thing. Though, when I was spending a lot of time in the car, they might have worked for me.
I'm bumping this because this book is next on my TBR list, and I was wondering if anyone out there has read it recently? Any thoughts? Anyone think I should save my time, and read something else?
