This link may be of some assistance I don't think the age of the books really matter. The classics, Dr Seuss, Shel Silverstein, Mo Williams, The Pigeon books, Charloettes Web, Maurice Sendak. They're still brilliant and worth reading- regdog

No, you can't agent your own book with the large publishers. Small publishers may accept direct from author submissions, You have to check each publisher's Submission Guidelines. To find an agent use resources like AgentQuery.com and Publishers Marketplace. Cross reference with a site like...- regdog
