Yes, holiday plans are in full swing. I have been making lists of what my kids want (and what I want my kids to have ;) ) and looking in store circulars and catalogs, price-hunting. My sisters and I are hosting a very fun gift-exchange Christmas Party in a few weeks and I am working on my...
That's a shame, for sure. Schools around here have a zero-tolerance policy. ANY physical fight results in the police being called to the school immediately. The bully wouldn't just have a week off school, she'd have been arrested, then and there.
My boys love them!!! I see nothing wrong with that. There's stuff far worse, that's for sure
And they happen to be four of the richest men in Australia.
This is just one of my many reasons for going back to school. When my kids see that I tackle homework with gusto and am overjoyed at A's, I hope they'll be more likely to do the same. I can't wait for my kids to see me graduate from college!! I live in an area where trade school is the norm...
It doesn't matter how strict the gun laws are, criminals are going to do what they are going to do. If the laws are strict, a criminal will get even a small blackmarket gun or a really big knife, and still be one-up on the victim, if the laws are loose, the criminals will get the biggest...
While I doubt that the forum itself could be held responsible, the article does cite that a member could have helped the girl illegally obtain something, and that, I believe is called being an accomplice (sp?) in a crime and that could be punishable by law.
Actually, I think you can in some...
I consider it long. The book itself is about two inches (5 cm) thick. I can read a 250 page book in two or three days, if given my usual routine. So, this one should take me at least a week to read.
There have been a few times in my life that I could do that, when I was suffering from insomnia and could function quite well on four hours of sleep a night and the rare occasions that I didn't need to be awake for the next day. These days, unfortunately, things tend to go to h*** in a...
I don't think this would generally be classified as horror, but it is set under the sea and has some kinda creepy moments, and its the only thing even close that I've read, so how about Michael Crichton's Sphere?
There are over 600 titles on my TBR list, so I won't even attempt to post them here. But I will post those books I actually have in my possession, waiting on my nightstand/bookcase to be read.
The historian : a novel -Elizabeth Kostova (currently reading)
Extremely loud & incredibly close -...
My favorite of the P.I. genre are Sue Grafton's Kinsey Millhone series ( A is for Alibi, B is for Burglar etc.) The main character is a female P.I. and she's got attitude. I also like Janet Evanivich's Stephanie Plum series ( One for the Money, Two for the Dough, etc.). Sassy chick leads are...
I guess I am kind of a strict parent. But in all reality, an early bedtime is in their best interest. A child that gets enough sleep does better in school and behaves better in general. A lot of ADD and ADHD cases are really some sort of sleep deprivation, sometimes a medical condition like...
I generally don't have much time to read during the day, my numerous "jobs" keep me quite busy. But, in the evening, after the children are put to bed and the house is shut down for the night, I can easily get in two hours of reading, sometimes more, if I start reading earlier and want to put...
I've had two dreams about libraries (that I remember).
In the first one, I was wanting to read a book that I thought should have been one the regular shelves, but wasn't. It was "special" and was behind the circulation desk. I could only look at it, not touch. with the librarian holding...
