This is what I do. The first thing that draws me to an unknown book with an unknown author is the cover. At his point I am hoping that the cover reveals something about the book. Sometimes the mere color will draw me (yes I am that fickle). After the cover has sucked me in, I go to the...
Think of it this way. When deep in thought (your own personal narrative, your self talk), how often do you say "I"? Maybe I am not clear. When describing the charcters stream of conciousness you should focus on the images, sounds, experiences of the character. It is your voice. How does...
I want to know more. :) What kind of relationship do they have at the beginning? Is this a romantic work? If it is why is he curious rather than afraid or very interested. What is his real motivation for looking for the girl? What is the girls motivation for stalking the man? Does the boy...
I second that opinion. Look at your flow on the second paragraph first few lines. It flows very nicely until you get to the rhyme. See if you can flow into the rhyme without effort. Your them is very interesting. I can relate to the lines. Keep writing.
I don't like it when people get too close when I am eating. I feel like they are breathing on my food. phones going off when I am trying to read or study. Cellphones going off during lectures, and people who have the audacity to answer the phone during the lecture. Step out if it's an...
What is your favorite book cover ever? Where you disappointed with the read? I picked up the Witch of Colgne by Tobsha because of the beutiful cover (I admit it). Have you done that? Please confess.
This will sound werd as a suggestion, but Jacquelin Carey's firs book Kushiel's Dart is close in style. Dark. a bit seductive (not a bit). No Faries, but you may enjoy it. I read the Hamilton and Carey at the same time for a while. I found them so very similar in style.
About three years ago I accidentally ran into a writer named Ted Dekker. I picked up his book Three. It's been one of the most disturbing and thought provoking books I've read in a while. You might like it. I can't explain the plot without giving it away, but you end up questioning your...
Not dead, just hard to find in the midst of sob much trash. Yes, I complain about the same. The plot is your basic heroic quest type deal. However, it is the story telling that brings fantasy to life. I recomend some of the books gueared towards young adults. Sometimes the story telling is...
I speed read. Only when I am reading boring text books for my grad. studies. I don't miss on the comprehension. I find that the texts become repetitive anyway. I don't speed read books I read for enjoyment or interesting fiction. I like to enjoy every word.
Well I love a wide variety. Right now I am reading Shalimar the Clown by Rushdie.
I usually lean towards sci-fi or fantasy, but I love a bit of everything. Now non-fiction I have a difficult time with if it is not well written. :)
Thanks for your welcome!
