Books you have bought but haven't read yet

I have an evergrowing stack of books that I haven't read or have partially read. And it only gets worse every time I go to the used bookstore.

My list:

Iliad
Odyssey
Confederacy of Dunces (read half)
Fast Food Nation (read half)
Ghost Wars
Secret Agent - Conrad
The Holographic Universe
Notes From the Underground - Dostoevsky
Brave New World
Art of War
The Prince - Machiavelli (read half)
Walden (read about 1/3)
Leaves of Grass
A People's History of the United States (read parts sporatically)
Lies My Teacher Told Me (read parts sporatically)
Koran
Bible (finished the New Testament, still working on the Old Testament)
1984 (currently reading and almost finished)

And the sad thing is I know there's more that I haven't listed and I'm about to buy Crime and Punishment. haha
 
Hey, i have the same problem as you :D But right now i avoid every bookstore :rolleyes:

Nonetheless i still have a huge pile of books i already bought and still haven't read:

Finnegan's Wake - James Joyce
Five Collections of Fairy Tales and Fables, but only three of them are mine, the other two are from a friend

Hm, i guess that's it, maybe i forgot some books, but, god i hope not ;) the list is already long enough!

Yeh I do that too ... I have a tendency to buy books that look nice, sound nice or that I have just heard of :)

I have:

Courtesans by Katie Hickman
Marie Antoinette by Antonia Fraser (it's so long!)
The Woman In Black by Susan Hill
The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien

And all of the Harry Potter books which I despise but need to read if I ever want a civilised conversation with any of JK.Rowlings' lunatic fans :D (waits for bashing)

Same here! Trouble is its a lot quicker to pick up a Great 2nd hand book or two or three or four :)
than it is to read them :eek:

what is this book from Bukowski about, it sounds a kind of cool,

and by the way, what the hell do you want with Kabale und Liebe??
i had to read it for school, it was not the worst, but definetly not good either, it is boring and senseless, just because there are differneces in class means not that every person who appears in the book has to screw up soo badly!!

I reorganized my books yesterday for "fun". It ended up being a replacement for the gym, up and down the stairs with huge stacks. I realized I have about 60 trade paperbacks, 200 mass markets and 50 hard covers that I own and have not read in their entirety. I put them all on two bookshelves and am in the process of sorting them by "order to be read". It doesn't mean I won't continue to buy new books, but I'll read these ones in between.

My next up shelf contains:

Lending

Yes, I have quite a few, but the problem is that, not only I didn't read them, I also lent them to some of my friends WITHOUT reading them. And I'm not so happy about that now, at least I made a list, not to lose track of them. ( they include David Lodge, Ian McEwan , Murakami, etc. )
By the way, what do you do when you lend books?Do you make a list or lose some books as it happened in my case? :confused:
I have a friend who put a little poster in her bookcase stating: I DON'T LEND BOOKS. A bit selfish, but safer, what about you?
 
I used to lend out books but I don't any longer. Too many people mistreat my books or just don't get them back to me!

I don't lend books because I would never get them back.

Well i have to read Kabale and Liebe for a Test for one of my subjects.
