Haunted was the hardest for me to stick with, but Sir Gut Free's story made it worth it. I've never felt so physically ill from a single paragraph!

The Palahniuk FAQ contains a lot of interesting items in regards to writing. I'm not certain about a book on writing, but he is currently working on a new book called "Snuff."
 
Some information on Snuff taken from an interview Chuck did with Pine Magazine:

DF: Can you tell us what your next novel will be about?

CP: The next one is called Snuff and it’ll come out a year from now. It’s about the filming of one of those world’s largest gangbang porn movies. It’s about three guys who are waiting their turn to get called onto the set. You find out their back-stories like why they are there and what is their real motive for being there. My editor had dared me to write another fast funny dark little book. So this is just a real fast dirty funny little book.

I found where I got the idea that he was working on a book on writing. At his website's writer's workshop FAQ: (chuckpalahniuk.net/workshops/faq)

Chuck kindly asked us to remove the essays, as he was finally gearing up for his 'How To' book on writing, to be co-authored with his mentor and friend, Tom Spanbauer.

They say this was in 2006, so I guess there's no telling when or if anything will come of it...
 
I am excited to read anything by Chuck Palahniuk. His newer books are not quite as good as his older ones in my opinion, but I still enjoy them. I enjoy his style, his characters, and his gross humor.
 
LOL-I pointed to the website in order to skirt the issue of the topic of his next book.:D We do have children and the lactose intolerant as members here, have to watch sensibilities you know.;)

Can't wait for Invisible Monsters the movie version to come out. Looks like Choke will also hit the big screen.:D
 
I had loved the movie Fight Club. When I discovered that it had been a book prior to a movie I ran to the bookstore faster than a junky after a crack train and purchased it there and then, without any forethought.

I get home, sit down, eager to read. Twenty minutes into it and what felt like an eternity in my mind, the book is flying across the room and I'm simaltaneously cursing and making up a new language to curse with.

I loved the movie. I hate the writing.
 
Chuck P. is definitely my favorite author of all time. And Invisible Monsters is possibly my favorite book (see avatar). I love every book I've read by him so far. Fight Club, Invisible Monsters, Haunted, Choke, Lullaby, and Rant. I can't get ahold of Survivor or Diary and it's driving me mad.

I can't wait for Choke to come out next year. It's premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in January. The rumors about an Invisible Monsters movie have been going around for years though and I doubt they're really planning to make it any time soon. They might be making Survivor in the near future though.
 
I never knew they were making a movie based on Choke. I'd heard about Invisible Monsters, but I don't think anything is really concrete about that one.
 
Sam Rockwell is playing Victor and Angelica Huston plays his mother. It looks like it's going to be pretty great. Read more about it on imdb.com.

Just do a title search for Choke (2008). Apparently I can't post links, so that will have to do.
 
In regards to Choke the film-

He has also launched an interesting sub-site on his page called The Cult where people who sign up can chat, participate in a forum, pull up interviews, not to mention view scribblings of Palahniuk if and when he feels like letting them go. It really looks like a fan friendly endeavor, something that will catch in if others haven't already set up similar things. Do check it out though, not to be missed.
 
I've read most of his books but have yet to get around to Invisible Monsters, Diary and Rant. My favorite was Choke but both Stranger Than Fiction and Fugitives and Refugees were equally entertaining non-fiction. This guy knows Portland really well.

Strangely enough, Fight Club is the only Book-to-Movie transfer where i liked the ending of the movie better than the book. The ending in the book wasn't bad at all;in fact, it was great. I still liked the movie ending better.

I think Survivor, Diary, and Fight Club are his best.

Haunted is just plain garbage.
 
Looks like he will be releasing a new book in 2009 titled Pygmy. You can find a descriptor of it here.

I've just finished the first draft of a novel called "Pygmy," a dark comedy about terrorism and racism. The lead character is a 13-year-old foreign exchange student sent to live with a suburban, white, middle-class family. Oh, and they're Christians. The visit is for six months, and he's one of a dozen similar kids, all shipped to America to live with typical families.

The secret truth is that Pygmy is a terrorist, trained since infancy in martial arts, chemistry and radical hatred of the United States. He has six months to build a prize-winning project for the National Science Fair. If he succeeds, he and his project will go to Washington, D.C. for the finals competition -- where the project will explode, killing millions.

So far, Gerry Howard says it's the best book I've done. Fingers crossed for luck.

Oooh. That sounds good.

Last year when I was in Portland, I stopped by St. Helens Book Shop and helped myself to the signed Palahnuiks. For those that didn't know, Chuck has, for lack of a better term, adopted the St. Helens Book Shop and swings by regularly with signed books and picks up books that have been sent/dropped off for his signature.
 
Bought Snuff, planning to read it next month, but I was flipping through it and noticed that the text is set in brown, not black.
 
Choke

Ok, so i read Choke last summer and i'm still not completly sure what it was about. it was a good read, very interesting, but at times i had no idea what was going on haha.
I think i want to read another book of his to figure out whats going on in his head
