We have something new posted on the Dark Regions website that we are very excited about: "Charnel Wine" by Richard Gavin in an exclusive collector's edition you won't find anywhere else! Here's some info about the book:

Click here to read more about Charnel Wine by Richard Gavin

Richard Gavin's debut collection was one of Horror's sleeper hits of 2004. The rapid sell-out of its entire print run resulted in Charnel Wine becoming a highly sought-after title among connoisseurs of weird fiction.

Dark Regions Press is proud to present Charnel Wine: Memento Mori Edition, which contains the original collection in its entirety as well as five previously unpublished tales, a new Introduction by the author, and cover art by renowned illustrator J.K. Potter.

"Richard Gavin's writing serves as a testament that great masters once crafted great stories...and as evidence that they shall do so again." --- Thomas Ligotti

"Gavin's prose is a refined instrument capable of evoking whatever person, mood, or time period he chooses..." --- Jim Rockhill in Dead Reckonings

"[Gavin's] voice blends hints of Arthur Machen, M.R. James and H.P. Lovecraft, yet updates all three of them ably into the 21st century...he's fond of declarative statements which sound normal on first reading, then twist into something dreadful and alien when you try to parse them further." --- Gemma Files

"There is writing here of dreams and darkness. Stories of nightmare blended with poetic eloquence. Memories will linger from this book, like fears conjured from visits to the graveyard. " --- L.H. Maynard & M.P.N. Sims

"Richard Gavin pens tales of grimness and melancholy, of ghosts and things much darker than ghosts...He knows how to get under your skin and haunt you." --- Laird Barron

"Richard Gavin has the narrative strength and the imaginative power of a veteran." --- Hellnotes

Leather-bound signed Deluxe Lettered edition Details: Signed by the author. Beautiful burgundy bonded leather, stamped in gold on the front cover, and the spine, black end papers, full black headers, gold book ribbon, and black slipcase. Only 26 lettered hardcover editions available.

The Night Swimmers, in which two brothers investigate UFO sightings in a New England forest.
The Possessed, a “New Weird” style science fiction/horror novella in which three explorers utilize a strange method of traveling to a far world.
Nocturnal Emissions, a novella (or collection of mini stories, if you’d rather) about imbalance, love, TV, a giant floating eye, and other enigmas – one chapter of which features pop star Walter Egan (Magnet and Steel) as its protagonist.

Dark Regions Press is proud to present the trade paperback edition of the critically acclaimed novel Ouroboros by Michael Kelly and Carol Weekes.

In a small coastal town, an ancient force stirs, drawn by the cumulative power of life and death, grief and sorrow, and ultimately, endless love.

OUROBOROS - life out of death.

Tom Christiansen's wife of 35-years, Dolly, is dead. His world suddenly shattered, Tom takes refuge in his house to grieve and reflect. Tom's thin veil of reality and fantasy begins to crack and slip. He hears things: the rusty creak of the backyard swing; the tap to tiny feet from an upstairs room. And he sees things, as well: a small rubber ball bouncing slowly down the stairs; birds like silent sentinels on electrical wires; a strange little pigtailed girl suddenly appearing in his yard, and what is that mysterious figure lying in the upstairs bed that he used to share with his beloved wife?

OUROBOROS - a new cycle has begun.

Tom's long-time neighbors, and dearest friends, Mick and Robbi Hamlin begin to notice strange behavior from grief-stricken Tom. The witness dinner place-settings for two. They hear hushed conversations from the old house, as if Tom is speaking to himself, as if he is not alone. There is a pale little girl in the backyard, swinging ceaselessly. And something is rustling in the bushes, peering out from the undergrowth with inquisitive eyes.

OUROBOROS - the end is just the beginning.

"With this expertly-written tale of madness and terror, Carol Weekes and Michael Kelly have immediately established themselves as a force to be reckoned with Mystifying and deeply unsettling, Ouroboros is as thought-provoking and intelligent as it is terrifying. This is horror for grownups. Once Ouroboros finds its way into your head and begins to nest, good luck getting it out." --Greg G. Gifune, Children of Chaos

Michael Kelly and Carol Weekes have written a gem of a novel...Horror fans will enjoy the book, but those who tend to veer away from the darker fiction are going to miss out on a damned good read. -- Gef of Good Reads

"Quaintly humorous at times, and occasionally stomach turning in it colourful descriptiveness of gore, it is suspense which drives this story. Once you begin reading, you will find yourself nearly unable to put it down...from its touching scenes of interpersonal kindness to its frightfully vivid scenes of unspeakable terrors, Ouroboros is a gripping read. -- Horrorbound Online Magazine

"This is a must read for any horror fan!" -- Readaholic

"Ouroboros is, quite literally, haunting. Its dark themes are brought to life by scenes and characters hard to forget, immeasurably enriched by the skillful exploration of friendship and duty that extend beyond the grave. I can recall only two horror novels that so effectively depict the fear of dying, and what lies beyond, or that resonate so long after the final page is turned: Stephen King's Pet Semetery, and William Sloan's The Edge of Running Water. Kelly and Weekes are keeping very good company. " -- Stephen R. George (Jack Ellis) Author of The Forgotten, and Dark Miracle

About the Authors

Michael Kelly is the author of two short story collections, Scratching the Surface, and Undertow and Other Laments. Apparitions, an anthology he edited and published under his own literary imprint, Undertow Publications, was nominated for a Shirley Jackson Award. As editor he has two forthcoming projects: Chilling Tales, an anthology featuring Canadian horror writers, and Shadows & Tall Trees, a literary journal of contemporary strange tales. He has fiction forthcoming in The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror 21, PostScripts, Space & Time, and Supernatural Tales.

Carol Weekes has written fiction in all areas, mainly in the Horror and Dark Speculative genres, since first publishing a short story in 1995. Her work has appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies, some of those being the Northern Frights series edited by Don Hutchison, Space & Time, Flesh and Blood, All Hallows, to name a few. A first novel, Walter's Crossing was written with Michael Kelly and was released from NSP Books in 2007. A 2nd novel, Ouroboros, co-written with Michael Kelly was released in hardcover from Bloodletting Press.

Wolfhunt by Jeff Strand

Meet George and Lou, thugs for hire. The kind of intimidating-yet-friendly guys who will break your thumbs, but be nice about it.

Their latest assignment is to drive across Florida to deliver some precious cargo to a crime lord. The cargo: a man in a cage. Though Ivan seems perfectly human, they're warned that he is, in fact, a bloodthirsty werewolf.

George and Lou don't believe in the supernatural, but even if they did, it's daytime and tonight isn't the full moon. It's just a simple transport job, albeit one that carries severe consequences if they screw it up. Their instructions are straightforward: Do not open the cage. Do not reach into the cage. Do not throw anything into the cage.

And they don't. Unfortunately, Ivan doesn't play by the usual werewolf rules, and the thugs find themselves suddenly responsible for a vicious escaped beast. One who can transform at will. One who enjoys killing in human form as much as he enjoys killing as a monster.

If George and Lou want to save their careers, dozens of people, and their own lives, they need to recapture him. Because Ivan the werewolf is in the mood for a murder spree...

Do-Overs and Detours by Steve Vernon

Detours are amazing creatures. They can shortcut your existence or lead you down a forever long road that will linger far into the distant reaches of eternity. It is these unexpected tangents that people stumble across everyday that haunt in a frightening familiar fashion.

Wander into a laundromat and find a kind of time machine. Indulge yourself in a nasty game of baseball. Hitch a ride on a freight train with the piggyback man, entomb yourself in a trailer walled with books, take a ride on a bus that is going nowhere in particular, or just lean over an empty ocean and wait.

Detour around an overturned trailer of chickens and find a chance to do it all over again. Take a taxi ride with a very hungry passenger or a walk in the park to watch a juggler balance severed heads.

Reality will take you only so far--after that there's nothing to rely on but faith and fear.

Fifteen stories.

Five of them, never before published.

We've come to the edge of the map. Let's travel on a little further.

Dark Regions Press is proud to announce BENEATH THE SURFACE by Simon Strantzas, a collection of bizarre and brilliantly creative tales. We currently offer Beneath The Surface in our leather-bound signed by both author and artist Deluxe Lettered edition with slipcase and colored book ribbon!

Revised and expanded, the startling debut of Simon Strantzas resurfaces with tales of dark Gods and monsters of the flesh, emissaries from a world beneath our own, a world from where nightmares are born. Here, a man searches for truth in a universe that has forsaken him and pays the price for that knowledge, and a woman with out hope travels northward to find the place where her life fell to pieces and discovers of what she truly is made. They say no man is an island, no matter how much he wishes to be, but what then is that ship that sails toward him, and what pray tell is that lashed to its bow. These are tales that infect our dreams, tales of things that live beyond our understanding and watch us with malignant indifference. They are tales of grief, of loneliness, of guilt. Tales of the liminal places that separate our world from that other world, the world to which our souls are merely a gateway. Come inside and witness what resides in us all, deep down beneath the surface.

AUSTIN, TX – Acclaimed horror author Gabrielle Faust will unveil her latest work, a horror novella entitled Regret from Dark Regions Press on Sunday, September 19, 2010. The new work of this prolific new voice in horror has already garnered rave reviews and the respect of critics and peers alike.

Gabrielle Faust, referred to in genre circles as the new “Queen of Cyber Goth” and recently dubbed “New Orleans Vampire Royalty” deviates from her renowned presence in the vampire genre to dip her pen in the inkwell of demons and demonology with a twisted philosophical examination of human emotions and their ties to the antiquated mortal notion of “sin”.

“I am absolutely thrilled about this new project. It is very different from anything I have ever written before and, some might say, a bit controversial in certain aspects so I am eager to see just how my readership embraces it. I have been fascinated with the philosophical aspect of the definition of concepts such as ‘salvation’ and ‘damnation’ for as long as I can remember. Regret was the perfect opportunity for me to explore such themes while crafting a tale that is far more disturbing, in my opinion, than anything I have attempted before.” Remarked Gabrielle Faust about her new literary endeavor.

Synopsis:
Humanity is renowned for placing the blame for their most unspeakable actions in the palms of their “demons”. It would seem that for every crime, every indecency there is a minion of the Underworld assigned to it. The lucky ones balance precariously on the edge of damnation, always managing at the last minute to halt their impending doom. The unlucky ones succumb entirely or, in Marcus Glenfield’s case, find themselves following a much darker path than they ever could have imagined. After a strangely brutal twist of fate, Marcus becomes his own inner demon, that of the Demon of Regret. As he begins his new life as a tempter and collector of mortal souls, his path of damnation unfortunately crosses with that of Sonnellion, the Demon of Hatred, Cresil, the Demon of Slovenliness, Vetis, the Tempter of the Holy and finally Belial himself, the Prince of Wickedness. Through each of his interactions, Marcus gleans valuable insight into the purpose of his fellow demons within the greater hierarchy of existence, assisting his personal mission to collect the one soul that continues to preoccupy his every thought. However, will the wisdom of Hell’s ancient minions be enough to save him from a deadly encounter with Belial or does Hell have another plan for Marcus altogether?

What the literary world is saying about the work of Gabrielle Faust:

"Gabrielle Faust's REGRET is just about perfect. It's a modern day cosmology, a demonic game of cat and mouse, and another winner from one of horror's most accomplished voices. Treat yourself to REGRET. Sin and pain never felt so good."

-Joe McKinney, author of Dead City and Apocalypse of the Dead

"Regret by Gabrielle Faust is a dark and haunting work, crafted with mood and elegance. Ms. Faust is a talented storyteller, one not to be missed."

— New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Heather Graham

“This tale grabs the reader for a harrowing journey that is epic in scope but intimate in tone and detail. The vampires are savagely erotic, driven by equal parts duty and passion, in a way that will thoroughly satisfy any fan of dark fantasy.”

— Kim Paffenroth, Professor of Religious Studies, and author of Gospel of the Living Dead, Dying to Live and Valley of the Dead

“Gabrielle Faust is a fascinating new voice emerging from the nightmare of sound-alike authors. She is a writer to watch.”

— Del Howison, Bram Stoker Award winner

“Gabrielle Faust’s book is full of poetic imagery. She finds beauty in the shadows and the horror of a devastated civilization. Faust sheds new light on vampire culture, making them angels, instead of demons…For those that crave vampire fiction with a dark soul, Gabrielle Faust delivers on all levels.”

— Scars Magazine

“…Faust can really write and this book kicks Major League Ass. Her stylized prose is completely addictive and I was enthralled by her characters. If you don’t read this book at least once, you’re depriving yourself of a unique pleasure.”

— Greg Lamberson, Bram Stoker Award Winning author of Johnny Gruesome
