last/next concert ?

Jeeze been a while. My last concert was the Doobie Brothers. Was the Grateful Dead the concert before that one.

God I'm old . . . . lol

Anyone in SoCal should clear their calendar on 3/3/10 and prepare to be in Santa Barbara.
I'm not at liberty to reveal the name of the band just yet.

But it's going to be the feel-good event of the year.
Guaranteed

That's it, if I ever put together a death metal band, we're going to ban people from writing our name in anything but Times New Roman. Like so:

Tonight on stage:
The Very Heavy And Possibly Somewhat Evil Band.

Polite, unassuming, formally correct death metal. I think it could be big.

I was thinking along that same line.
From the bottom right corner, one over and numbers 3 and 4 up along with the 3rd up from the bottom left corner - have no interest in anyone knowing their name.

Which is a shame, because I'm sure it took months of each member of the band filling the margins of their notebooks with the darkest, sickest words and phrases they could think of and much heated debate before they all agreed on "Disemboweled Fetus" or whatever. And now nobody even read the metalest name that ever existed.

Please don't take this like I'm being a jerk, because I'm really not. But how do you feel about your cost/enjoyment ratio?

Like, I spend $100 on tickets all the time, but that's the price for me and four friends and we're close enough to high five the drummer.

That's a standard metal show but at half that price. Maybe $100 for 5 people if it's one of the bigger-name tours, but still the same small venues.

Well, there's plenty of $5 shows to be seen here, metal or otherwise, but we've never left one of those shows feeling like we'd never forget it.

Except Lightning Bolt.
And there weren't technically tickets for that.
Even if you go through a smaller provider like Ticketweb, fees are still like $3/ticket - so it's hard to get out for less than $20/person.

Yeah the majority of shows I attend don't have physical tickets and sure, a lot are just ok. But I've seen some very unforgettable shows that were around $10, a few of which had 6 or 7 bands playing. Even so, like I said, if they do cost more and are handled through a big ticketing company, the venues are generally the same and accessibility of the band is the same too.

Saw John Hiatt and Lyle Lovett last night. Just two old country/soul/rockers sitting in one chair each, trading songs on acoustic guitars and telling stories for two and a half hours. Great concert, both were in great voice and spirit even if it took Hiatt a song or two to really warm up that big tenor howl of his. I'm more familiar with Hiatt's work (Lovett hasn't played here since 1988, so it's his own fault, really), so there were quite a few songs I wished he would have played, but we got "Tennessee Plates", "Perfectly Good Guitar", "Crossing Muddy Waters" and "Have A Little Faith In Me" among others plus at least one brand-new song that sounded great, so I'm happy. And I need to check out more Lovett; "Natural Forces" off his latest album is an incredible song.

I am trying to get tickets to see Bon Jovi this year, they are playing at Churchill Downs in Louisville Kentucky.
