I recently read "The Five People You Meet In Heaven" and i really enjoyed it. I was wondering if his other two novels "Tuesdays with Morrie" and "For One More Day" are just as good?

Thoughts??
 
I've only read Tuesdays with Morie, but I enjoyed that. It wasn't spectacular, but it was good for what it was. I think The Five People You Meet in Heaven and TWM are supposed to be similar enough in theme and execution that if you like one you'll probably like the other, but I don't know for sure.
 
I've also read Tuesdays With Morrie and enjoyed it. We read it in a class on Death & Dying. It was part of a major assignment to write an essay, but now I can't remember exactly what we were supposed to discuss. However, I had one of those difficult professors for it whereas I got a C instead of my usual A- on the paper.

Yes, very similar in theme. TWM is the better of the two though, I'd say.
 
I have read The Five People You Meet In Heaven and For One More Day and enjoyed them both. Not literature like Steinbeck but still very enjoyable.

Is For One More Day overly depressing? Im not a fan of books with sad endings. I read Alice Sebold's "The Lovely Bones" and that was too depressing for me to finish.

It was not depressing at all for me. I also thought that The Lovely Bones was a little depressing, not my cup of tea.
 
I see this guy's books everywhere! Quite often, on the tabletops at the dentist's office or at a friend's house. Must be a "safe" pick I'm thinking.:D
 
I think the premise of "5 people" is interesting but I didnt enjoy it or "Tuesday" . I guess MA has found his niche though since people seem to buy his stuff. Def not for me!
 
I enjoyed both The Five People You Meet In Heaven and Tuesdays with Morrie. I agree with muggle that they’re an enjoyable read, but not great literature. I will probably pick up a copy of For One More Day when the price drops enough on Amazon.
 
The five people you meet in heaven was really good, and so was Tuesdays with Morrie. But, For one more day, seemed to be repetative and combination of the two earlier books. I especially did not like the idea of being inside of one dreamlike state: a conscious state within another dream, not knowing which is which. I detest those nebulous atmospheres. I guess that's just me. The story did not go anywhere in my opinion. Just lingering beside his mother, in half dead state. I did not find out how it ended.
 
I finally picked up a copy of For One More Day and I hope to read it soon.

Mitch Albom does alright for a sports writer.
 
I thought The Five People You Meet in Heaven was ridiculously simplistic. I like the general idea, but have read around the subject a fair bit over the past few years, and this is not, in any way, the best. Still, I guess it's a lighthearted introduction to the general life after death theme. Tuesdays With Morrie, on the other hand, was a good read. Sweet and endearing, with amiable characters.
