One last tidbit of Pope info

Hey Jenem, are you refering to post #23 where you said this:

"i haven't been offended, but i found a post offensive once."

I guess I stand corrected. Not the first time, and most likely not the last.

Has been nicknamed "God's Rottweiler". (likes cats then im sure)

Once referred to homosexuality as "evil".

Sounds like a nice guy.

Well he was in charge of the branch of the catholic church formerly known as the inquisition. Not exactly a job where you are allowed to challenge old ideas.

I would not judge him before i see how he is as the pope. Anyway as he is 78 he wont be the pope for long. Those that elected him are very aware of this fact.

Apparently I'm no longer a nice person... gurh!!! Gurh! Jenn, you raised the ire of this cat lover. :p

Yeah, the eyes were the first thing I noticed as well. Brrr...

I was hoping for something more progressive as well, but a short reign of a very conservative pope might help in bringing about a vote for a more progressive one next time.

What says that he can't live another 10-20 years? He does have the best doctors and care staff to look after him and as far as I know, is still quite healthy.

"I have a sneaking suspicion that this thread will be shutdown today"

After 120 posts in the "Are you Offended" thread and not one person owning up to being offended by anything they've read in this forum why would you assume something like that?

opps, almost forgot my smilies... :) :) :)
Moto, I was just referring to my experience with starting a thread that halfway dealt with Christianity. Remember the Jesus Doll thread that got shut down on the first day? I just saw this degrading into Pope Bash 2005. It still might.

Actually I'm concerned about how conservative he is. I heard on the news this morning that people were concerned because he wants to unify the church again but they're afraid that the changes he has in mind might not unify but divide the catholics.

I think baiting moderators is rude and easy.I think people should talk about stuff that they are interested in and not bait moderators. :) :)

Hey, y'all know I'm really smiley. But, in my segrit life, I prefer real conversation.

Does anyone out there think that depression is linked to creativity? I am of two minds. Ah ha. No you, shut up.

But I think it's an interesting question that connects scads of recent threads. I like to shoot in such black darkness. Oh no oh no . .

Write back soon, penpals . . . .

Did you know that “Pope” is short for:

"Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Jesus Christ, Successor of the Prince of the Apostles, Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church, Patriarch of the West, Primate of Italy, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Roman Province, Sovereign of the State of the Vatican City, Servant of the Servants of God"

Primate of Italy? Huh?

Can’t one of these guys come up with an original name for once?

Benedict the 16th???? There were 15 other Benedict’s before you, use your imagination.

What about Bob The First? Or Norville the First? Wouldn't you want to be a first instead of a 16th? And what's wrong with the name your parents gave you?

Tradition just for the sake of tradition is pretty boring sometimes.
--Same questions that I have in mind eversince they started this pope election whatever....I don't quite undertand what's up with this "Screen name",why not use their name, just call the new Pope, Pope Ratzinger
