Political Statement--US eyes only

That reminds me of a show I watched on television last night. If you can believe it -- professional Extreme Dodgeball! No kidding! Teams of five, and these guys and gals can heave that rubber ball at 50-60 mph! The other side is only about 20 feet away and the force of getting hit can knock them 5 or 6 feet back. Geez! I still remember the stinging when one of those caught me in gym class, and can't imagine one hurled at the speed of a baseball. Still it was entertaining in a sadistic, puerile sort of way. :D

Cathy
The penguins give me strength! Long live the penguins...

Cathy -
Then you MUST rent the film that came out in late spring/early summer this year, with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn called "Dodgeball".
It's hilarious, and the speed that they throw the ball is intense. I saw interviews with some of the cast, and they said that they got a LOT of bruises in this film. Especially in the head!
For simple fluff, I really enjoyed it, and normally Ben Stiller irritates the daylights out of me.

But, as you rightly pointed out, Ben Stiller is in it. I won't watch anything he's in. Just don't like him.

Yep, he's a moron and full of himself...... but a rich moron who's laughing all the way to the bank.
Please tell me that you like Vince Vaughn at least. His character is a tad dull for his norm, but he carries himself well.

For the life of me, I can't remember Vince in Dogma???
Of course I remember, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Chris Rock, Alanis, those 2 dopey guys who swore like sailors.
Remind me, which character did Vince play?????
P.S. The writing in that film was one of the best I'd ever seen. The guy is a genious.

im pretty sure neither ben stiller or vince were in dogma

and i agree, it was a great script, especially when bethany speaks with the "voice of god".
although didnt really like the ending, but until the train scene it was great.

Matt and Ben stole the show with their constant bantering. Lightning quick delivery. They have great memories regarding their lines.

One of my favourite parts was Chris Rock landing butt naked on the road. God has a great sense of humour.
Alanis also had a pretty easy speaking role, eh?
:D

Oops! Right you are -- Affleck, not Stiller. Sorry.

Probably my favorite part was in her apartment, putting out the "burning bush" with the extinguisher! hahaha :D

Cathy.... I'm only teasing here........ but,
how the heck could you mix up Ben Stiller with Ben Affleck????? Please tell me it's only because they're both named BEN, and not based on their physical attributes. :D
Ben A. is a hunka hunka, tall, dark and handsome
Ben S. is  (and the size of a mouse)

Mr. Michel
Thanks so much for posting that link.
:D
I've just spent the last 20 minutes or so, reading, reminiscing and crying my eyes out from laughter. What excellent writing!!!

I would get them confused too, except that benaffleck is made out of cardboard, his hair is attached to his head with velcro, and he has a voice like a girl, and Ben Stiller is a human being with normal flaws and two nice parents who he will probably take care of when they are old and can't tap dance anymore.

I'm a Cub fan, so I have to cheer on the Sox.

That said, everything pales in comparison to ice hockey. Shall I put the Olympic Canadian or U.S. teams up against the Brits representation? Oh wait, I can't. They didn't have one.

And Billy O, I've seen a picture of you in make-up. Still want to talk about soccer in reverse?

RaVeN

Raven,
This hockey strike must be driving a stake through your heart like it's doing to me. :(
I miss hearing the "da duhhhhh duhhhhh duhhhhhhh duhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" trumpet opening of my beloved Ottawa Senators.
I even miss listening to Don Cherry. It's just not the same right now. The weather's getting colder, and I WANT MY SENS

The Sens are a GREAT team. I've been cheering them on for some time now. I'll probably cheer even louder, now that they're Bonkless. :D I even own a game worn sweater of theirs that I wear to local games now & then.

And what's up with Lalime? He's a great guy off the ice & derserves all he can get.

At least I have a local minor league team here. AND their home opener is tomorrow night.

GO KOMETS! :D

RaVeN

Super happy to hear that you have a team to go to. Your weekend is set. Back to the Sens, yep, I'm super glad Bonk is history (useless overpaid boob) and a small part of me will miss Patrick Lalime, especially his helmet. :D
Here we've spent an absolute fortune on the Corel Centre and now what??? What's going to fill the seats?
Know what? YOU should go and give these boys a serious HEAD SHAKE.
That'll learn 'em!
;)

No worries Ashlea!
You may have noticed that we said there was a hockey STRIKE.
Hence, it's NOT hockey season already, nor does it look like there WILL be a hockey season.
Sad for us fans, but good for you, since we won't have anything to bore you on! (at least re: this particular sport)
Hey! Maybe that will mean that we'll read more books! Now that's a thought.
:D
