Singapore

That has absolutely nothing to do with what I posted. Physical cruelty and death do not humiliate a person.

And if you don't respect another country's law when you visit then you deserve to meet whatever special brand of justice they have reserved for you. Going anywhere nice for your holidays this year?

That means that you can't say my country my law. It has to be reasonable. I'm never going to go to singapore in my life. Not going to support that country.

Good. Now, STFU. You could have saved us all from reading this thread if you already had your mind made up. In the future if you are not willing to listen to other's ideas with an open mind, it would be for the better if you didn't talk.

why don't you shut up?

My question is if not caning, then what? Should they execute them? Or maybe just ignore them and pretend it didn't happen. You can't really contact their government and expect them to deal with it.

Take the Halifax explosion in 1917. A french ship carrying 2300 tons of wet and dry picric acid, 200 tons of TNT, 35 tons of benzol (stored on the open decks) and 10 tons of gun cotton ignored safety procedures and collided with another ship in the harbor. The explosion killed 1600 and injured another 9000.

The sad part is this: The French crew had enough time to abandon ship, row to shore and get far enough away that they survived, but they didn't bother to warn anybody else. And what punishment did they get for their irresponsibility? None. They were handed over to the French authorities who did nothing.

Let's see. I'm not the one starting threads for debate and then ignore valid points by other users only to continue on with my own insular rigmarole.

You have never been to the country, yet you know you are right. "Hey, momma, it sure smells like ignorance in here."

Let me give you something to ponder: if your goal is to piss us off there is a better way to do it. Instead of sounding like a broken record, pay attention to what the people say and comment on that. And don't comment on things you don't have first hand knowledge of, otherwise you just come off as a dumbass.

I was just making my point that there should not be corporal punishments. You said I was too stiff and can't accept other's views. did you accept my views? and then you told me to stop talking which is basically shut up.

Firstly, I would like to say dsj, your threads are hilarious. I am assuming you are just stirring up the pot for amusement's sake, I hope to God you aren't serious.

Secondly, I want to address what Litany said back on page 1...are you honestly trying to absolve terrorists of blame for their actions by saying they are products of their environment?

You made a point about corporal punishment being wrong because it is degrading; you have not acknowleged its benefits that Abu was kind enough to point out. The word 'stiff' has not left my lips...hey, hey, we're the monekys and we don't listen. I haven't accepted or denied your views...still not listening. Yeah, I told you to shut up, deal with it.

First, I am very serious about history and singapore. These latter is extremely ridiculous. I'm not sure what your second point mean.

Nope. But you can't just call terrorists inhuman and call it a day. There's always a reason why a person becomes a terrorist. They don't grow up in a vacuum. It's nice to think that's there's something fundamentally wrong with them, that they're in some way different from the rest of us. But given the right social situation there isn't a person on the planet who couldn't grow up to be a suicide bomber.

Rather than have this constant witch hunt and hysteria over killing all the terrorists before they kill us, wouldn't it be so much more intelligent to combat those wrongs that cause terrorists to exist in the first place?

By all means, punish people for their crimes, but that isn't our sole responsibility, and bombing their countries is not a solution, it's a cause.

Hun, we don't have any problem listening to and accepting other people's views. What we do have a problem with are posts are have a confrontational nature and are unwilling to listen to anyone else's side. Can you deny that you haven't given our position any serious thought? The tone you've used throughout your posts are closed-minded and volatile. Are you surprised that gets tiring and even offensive?

You live in canada, a country without death penalty. And you think that they should bring back the strap that was abolished in 1971?

This shows that you lack ethics by not reacting to caning and think that there is no point talking about it. It's a serious issue but you think it's pointless to talk about it. So it's ok that you get caned by a dispicable dicipline master if you didn't do your homework or you damaged a road sign?

Since you are a weenie and deleted your post. My ethics or lack there of are not the topic. By calling someone despicable, you have already made up your mind and stopped listening; you are also trying to influence others into seeing things through your eyes. If I were to go someplace and thought something I do would not fit into their culture, yes I would do my homework.
