Someone tell me this.

I decided this morning, that if all I want to say about a book is that I liked (or didn't like) it, then that's what I am going to do, it's my perrogative. That should be, is, and will be, enough. If someone else wants to know "why", they can damn well ask me. Maybe I don't want to elaborate, maybe I don't have time to elaborate, maybe one of my hands is broken and I can only type incredibly slowly with one hand. Either way, if I want to review a book, I will do it in the review section. If I just finished a book, I will post that in the Just Finished Reading thread. And if anyone feels the need to insult me for my reading tastes, or lack of defense of my choices, feel free to pm me. :D

What's with all the hostility? I was merely agreeing with your assessment! That kind of behavior will get you labelled as a 'troll'...Please be nice, we're trying to grow here.
 
He was simply implying that your last post was intended as an insult, which reflects some of the blanketed hostility going on within this forum... insulting by not straight-forward insulting.
 
How strange, seeing as I intended no such thing. In light of this, it would appear that his presumptions hold the real insult as it would seem evident that he is implying that Miss Shelf is lacking in wit and intelligence. Although I am not acquainted with Miss Shelf, I am sure she is a lady of qualities to the contrary. Thank you for pointing this out to me and I am delighted to correct an misunderstandings.
 
Do you really think we are so silly that we can't tell an insult is being made? Now that IS an insult :)

The insults and hostility on this forum are going to stop.

So, are you now saying that the original misunderstanding was not an insult, but this new one is? I'm confused...

oh all of you settle down...really at this point, no one cares anymore.....no offence to anyone, but peopel have moved on from this thread..this is so yesterdays news!

Then why is it still here? Much of this thread has been about "insults" that moderators have allowed to let stand. I think that's where things get out of hand. If "you're a troll" is allowed, then some else thinks, "well, grammar nazi" must be allowable to, and then, before you know people are being called "tool, ass-face, wanker, fucktard" -- all of have been allowed by the moderators, and people wonder about a hostile feeling on the board? :confused: :confused: :confused:

It sure answered mine! Here's the conclusion: The Book Forum has been over-run by children (no offense to those of you under the age of 18 - you aren't the children I mean!).

It's time we all grow up now and graduate from kindergarten. This kind of behaviour is ridiculous! I thought we were supposed to be responsible adults!
 
I think Martin's thread has started the ball rolling, Dele :)

Things are going to change around here. I think upon reading this thread that most of the good members of this forum are sick to death of those that are rude, here to stir up trouble, and insult. I think we will see a lot more members standing up for themselves.

Additionally we are getting some new mods soon and a few more things are in the works. Stay with us Dele. Things are getting better.
