Tell me what you read and I'll tell you who you are

well83 and sparkchaser nice bookshelves!

wells83 how were the The Six Wives of Henry the 8th and Mary Queen of Scots?

I am a historical fiction fan for the past 2-3 years.

I also have 33 books by V.C Andrews, go figure.

In my bookshelf, I have all the Harry Potter, a half read lord of the rings book, 3 books by Lisa Gardner, The John Wyndham Omnibus, and two different half read Anne Rice books! Who am I?

To see who I am by my books, you'd first have to weed out all of my hubby's religious books. The you'd see that I have a wide variety of interests. And my small collection of books doesn't really do me justice since I use libraries most of the time and so don't have a lot of what I've read.

I also have to wonder about people who have no books. In my in-laws house, they have one small bookcase with only encyclopedias tucked away in a back hallway. Since this is the house my hubby grew up in, I have to remembe this when he asks me, " Don't you have enough books?" Honey, there is no such thing.

A lot of my books are sitting in random piles on the floor and on desks and any other available surface because I ran out of bookshelf space a while ago. We need to get a couple more bookshelves. I've got to the point that if I'm walking round my office in the dark, I'm at risk of falling over those books and breaking my neck or something. Will try and take photos one of these days.

trust me,there is no WAAAAAAAAY to tell me who i am,i have been on about 100 personality tests and none of them have come close,i have a very mixed personality you see,for example, take the magic:the gathering quiz,i got blue but when i looke dat the others i saw i was a mix of all 5!

but if you rly want to try,im reading the pelinnor books by alison croggon, before that i was reading the faerie wars books by herbie brennan, and before THAT i was reading 'shade's children' and 'ragwitch' by garth nix

so who am i?

Waveguide being on leave at the monent, and seening so many call for diagnosise,i'll give it a go.

We had a Persian guy who sounded a bit like you, except he was Persian(of course). It won't help you much but you seem not to need any so...

Eva "Victorian horror and Victorian-style erotica."

That's a bit short but i'm sure Lenny as some good advice in both genre,Victorian and more.

I hope Waveguide will ever forgive me

Agreed. lenny nero is the guy you need to talk to for recommendations should you want any.

If I enter a girl's house and it is full of cheesy romans (including "Little Women" as THE classics) I know I'm gonna be bored for the next several hours, so I immediately look for an escape.

If however SF or fantasy is around, that's gonna be the cool, in some unexpected way.

I have not figured out what do the bookshelves with "Tolstoy" and "Dostoyevski" tell me about a person... Any ideas?

(My theory is : it means that the girl's father is Russian. But what it tells about the father himself?)

Hmmm, I guess I would bore you, but somehow that would be cool in an unexpected way, and my father is secretly a Russian.

;)

What a fun thread that was.

Someone needs to post up their library so they may be judged by us!

And what would you do if she had both an extensive collection of cheesy romance and fantasy novels? :p

Afraid I can't post mine because they are scattered all over three houses for the moment...

I wonder about them too.

Me also. I went to my boyfriend's friend's parents' house and they only had a dictionary. I regretted not bringing my book (which was in our car, which was back at his friend's house) but I had gotten shanghaied into this so there was no way I knew to bring it. Now I'm never without one. Anyway everyone wanted to watch TV and it was baseball and I hate watching baseball and crowds of people I don't really know so I excused myself and read the dictionary.

Can't take a pic of my book shelve,so I'll just post what books I have:

What person am I?

Had it ever happened to you - you enter somebody's house, give a glance over the bookshelves, and you can figure out who is the person?

I found myself scanning people's bookshelves automatically as I enter.

Ever happened to you?

This thread reminds me of a quote by John Waters. "If you go home with someone and they don't have any books. don't
f **ck them." I always head right to the bookshelves when entering a new environment. It gives me a clue as to if we will get along and has opened up some great conversations. I do not think I have ever been in a friends home without books (not in the last 20 years or so). I do not see a lot of strange new homes as I have been in a relationship for 21 years....

it astonishes me how many people don't have books. Worse is watching an interior design show and they put everything but books on a bookcase, or just a few 'decorative' books out. HELLO! IT'S FOR BOOKS! FOR YOU KNOW LIKE READING!

Yes I have never gotten that along with some of the telling you to buy books (any books as long as they look old or interesting) so that you can make piles of books in you book shelf to make it look like you have books...what??? The point escapes me :)
