Tree Huggers

Do you know that this thread, which I copied/pasted onto another forum, got me in deep trouble with the admin there; they charged me with abuse of the forum.

All I did was post this identical thread...and what did I get in return? How about abusive comments from other members...I became a punching bag and the admin wanted me to endure that abuse: so very unjust. But instead of closing the thread, the admin allowed it to remain open, which says alot. So I bowed out of a forum that I have been a part of for years and never (ever!) had a single problem with.

I am so very happy for the admin in all the my others forums that I posted this thread on (five in all minus the troublesome one) because the members replied to my view with respect and encouragement...just like BAR. That other forum is the one that lost...admin should always do the right thing and not allow other members influence their judgment.

So you still don't see how what you've posted is entirely lacking in the respect that you insist others give you?

It's very cute that you can copy and paste the same post in more than one forum Aquablue. Well done.

Now, perhaps you've actually got some responses to the points raised by the responses to this thread (and even on the other forums where you've posted it)? Or can't you actually do debate unless everyone agree with you and pats you on the back for your ill conceived rant?

I've seen your comments on Palimpsest about the Republicans having balls and the Democrats have none.

On that basis, were it not for the nature of your ignorant thread here (and elsewhere), one would be tempted to say that, by your own definition, you must be a Democrat. Your refusal to actually respond to people's comments (and you might want to take note of how widespread the condemnation of your comments has been), instead preferring to come back here (and elsewhere) and whine like a spoilt child, makes you appear distinctly lacking in any bollocks whatsoever.

But would my thread justify being kicked out of a forum? That's pretty drastic don't you think.
I think what you are failing to grasp is a) you have not been kicked out of any forum, you have left of your own volition; and b) it's not because of one thread, but of the many pointless ones you have made (the one about favourite knots springs to mind) coupled with the more inflammatory ones.

As another U.S. citizen, I don't think drilling Alaskan Oil Reserves or other offshore drilling is a good idea. I think it's better to tax more accordingly on the cars that we drive. I'm sure there will be loopholes as any other legislation, but, at least it may lower the number of outrageous Hemi powered pickups or other humongous monsters vehicles that U.S. is infamous of. I know this sounds crazy, but I believe more taxes for gasoline and put that tax money into our public transportation system, which we lack overall. Possibly some of that tax money could be directed toward the new type of transportation development that Obama spoke of. "Beam me up Scotty" ;)

I agree with you. I'd exempt farmers though.

Speaking of drilling in one's backyard, one of the best ways to keep up with the current Gulf of Mexico oil spill is, of course, through BP's PR Twitter account. Which is completely official. Absolutely. :whistling:

A few samples:
Proud to announce that BP will be sponsoring the New Orleans Blues Festival this summer w/ special tribute to Muddy Waters.
The good news: Mermaids are real. The bad news: They are now extinct.
Please do NOT take or clean any oil you find on the beach. That is the property of British Petroleum and we WILL sue you.
Funny, no one has thanked us for seasons 3-15 of Treme yet.
We feel terrible about spilling oil in American waters, we'll make sure the next spill happens where the terrorists live.

I hear they are going to try and cap / clogg that well soon. I hope it works. We clog the pipes at our house all the time. How hard can it be?

It was interesting rereading this thread. Question, is it possible to be moderate in such views or does everything have to be taken to the extreme? It sounds like it's either the "damn the environment" route or earth first-er's. I like the earth, very much like tree's and wildlife but facing facts, we need oil.
