Silly Sonia.
Well, I don't know about "exotic", but it certainly did sound interesting to me!In April 1971, as he was translating Glory, Nabokov told Stephen Parker he was perturbed that the picture he had painted of Cambridge life would no longer seem exotic for the book's new English readers. as it certainly had for the emigre readers he had first had in mind.
Ooh, you've interested us all then Pontalba, I'm sure! Just when is this Glory thread going to appear then?pontalba said:I'm finding a few interesting factoids/details about Glory in Boyd's Vladimir Nabokov, the Russian Years, but will save them for the correct thread.
One thing I can mention is that Martin is said to have been given at least some of Nabokov's own leanings.
And as a footnote, Boyd quotes Nabokov-- Well, I don't know about "exotic", but it certainly did sound interesting to me!

Yes, and yes.Peder said:Pontalba,
Maybe the Glory thread should just get opened and we can talk to each other. But it sure would be nice if we could at least find a few people to sit in the empty chairs to deaden the echo.
