What books have you hated?

That reminded me... I saw someone reading Jane Eyre on the bus today, and while I can't say I hated this book, I did find it terribly exhausting. I couldn't figure out what this person would read it for leisure.

I hated Jane Eyre, but not for any flaw in the book, I just hated the main character. I wanted to slap her.

Sorry to all Patricia Cornwell fans (myself included) but I have just hated reading her latest Scarpetta novel (Predator). I can't quite put my finger on why but just cannot seem to enjoy it at all.

One of the worst books I ever read was by Stephen King and it was Dreamcatcher. Although I really like Stephen King, this one was really terrible.

I didn't particularly hate Jane Eyre. It was simply not a book I could imagine reading if I hadn't been required to do so for school.

Books I hate : Lord of The Flies ( Too...dull ), Of Mice and Men (Same), To Kill A Mockingbird ( same ), That's about it.

I'm still trying to talk myself into reading the DaVinci code
You can look at that one of two ways. For example, I was reluctant to begin reading Nabokov. A friend convinced me that I would enjoy it. And I certainly have and am very glad I started, but with Nabokov, I was rewarded with some of the most wonderful prose written in the last 100 years.
I've read The DaVinci Code..............it isn't. Not by any number of milestones you wish to use. I know, I know you cannot really compare, I'm just comparing the rewards that are to be had by reading something that I was reluctant to read to begin with.
Apparently it makes a better movie than book, what with the visuals and the chase scenes. I do love a good chase scene.

Angels and Demons Hurt my brain... this book was Kraptastic and is not worthy of TP... Always new what was going to happen a dosen pages before it happens... and the ending... Is Horriable... don't waste your time withthis book...

A book written by Tabitha King (Stephen King's wife). I wanted to read her for the novelty factor of who she was married to, but I never got past the second page - the sentences didn't make sense. HORRIBLE writer. It's a good thing HE can write to pay the bills.

The Boy On The Bus-Deborah Schupack
made no freaken sense.....even the ending was useless...thank god it was a short book.

I thought all of those were good. Great, even.

I hated The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing. Also, Lucky by Alice Sebold (The Lovely Bones is a close one too), and The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom. That's all I can remember right now, but there will be many more.

" an instance of the fingerpost" by Iain Pears. I struggled through the 600 first pages, being tempted to give up on it several times, but other readers told me it was worth hanging on. I laid it aside for several weeks, then took it up again, but it didn't get any better. I hated it.

Like you Tamsine i was recommended this book, although i finished it i also struggled, parts of it held my interest but the majority of the book didn't.
I wouldn't say i hated it but it was a tough read.
