I'm 31, and I just now bought books 1 - 6. I avoided them thinking they were too sci-fi (I know, I know) and aimed at a younger audience. Then I noticed a LOT of people my age were reading, or had read already. I can't wait to jump into book 1.

What also made me purchase it is now I'll have it for my son to read when he is of the right age.
 
I'm 22 now and I read my first Harry Potter in the Summer of '03.... and the other 3 that were out at the time lol. I was hooked from the start.
 
I'm 24 now, almost 25 :eek: I think i bought my set of books in late 2001 when I was 19. I loved it!! Still do. The 5th book was an immense bore... That was the last book I read and I'm not really sure if I want to read the others.

If someone can convince me otherwise...

Oh yeah!! You'll love it. I'm also not a big fan of "proper" Sci-fi but these books (well, most certainly not the 5th book) are amazing.

Oh certainly. The only reason I want to have kids is cause I want to read to them!!

Oh no! That's tantamount to blasphemy!!! you must read it. In 20 years' time, there'll be references to HP in all major works of art and, similar to not ever having read Crime and Punishment, you'll feel like an outsider...

Besides, you have sons who will one day want to know what HP is all about. I dare you to resist being the one to read at least the first book to them! If only from that standpoint, you should 'stoop' to read this series. Of course they aren't high literature for adults.. but to the kids..that's another matter. And you just might find they're pretty fun reads;)
 
Let's see, I am 29 as of today, and the first book I have in hard cover is book 5, so I guess I started reading them after book 4 was put into paperback. Actually, the first flick was what got me reading them. And I watched the first flick bec. the music was by John Williams.
 
Well I first started reading the HP series when I was 9 or 10, can't remember. They were good, but now that I'm 12 (turning 13 in June) they get boring, since I've read them 4 times through.
