Wow. I'm a bit intimidated by your wonderful review.
I absolutely loved it. I've read this series twice, adding Breath of Snow and Ashes the second time. (I want to be Claire).
Now I remember what it was about Dan Brown's books that intrigued me. They were written in real time. I don't think I ever read a book written in real time before. And I think that's why it didn't adapt well to the big screen.
I'll agree with you on one point. EyezOnme may not have been pretentious. But the remark was certainly pompus.
Back to the original thread. I do agree that they are written much the same way. But I found Angels and Demons and Deception Point to be more interesting, more suspenseful...
Ah Stewart, it looks like I've churned up the pot a bit. And I know I would never win an argument with you. You're much more "well read" and academic than I am. I'll admit I would never do well on a debate team.
1. I read way more than one book a year and, still, I liked Dan Brown's...
Not apparently to the general public. The guy made millions of dollars, not to mention a crappy movie about the book. I'm tired of hearing people bash Dan Brown. It's pretentious of you, eyezOnme. He was smart enough to know how to hype up his book. Can you say the same? That's something...
I liked Angels and Demons much better. I don't really think it's a prequil to The DaVinci Code though. The whole concept is totally different. But another by Dan Brown is Deception Point. That was also fairly good.
Welcome Wanderer. Wow. I am so jealous! I wish I could speak more than 1 language. It must be difficult to learn all those different languages and dialects. That's wonderful.
This year I surprised even myself with my choices and favorites.
Sublime
Amos Lee
Los Lobos
Amiee Mann
Bird York
John Mayer
Kanye West
My mixes are better, though, cause I pick and choose. Then I've got exactly what I want all on 1 CD.
Etta James
Alicia Keyes
Beck
Beach Boys...
Absolutely. Steinbeck does that for me. He paints a picture for me that I never forget. And a good Historical Fiction can also stay with me. There are alot of books that have stayed with me visually. It's a beautiful thing!
Hey Sarah. Welcome.
This forum is not so bad as forums go. Sometimes it's mundane and boring and other times it can be fun and stimulating.
Well, you'll see for yourself. :)
That's wonderful! All your hard work paid off. You will love it. I went to France as part of my culinary training. It was wonderful. Different culture, different foods, etc.
I also lived in the mountains of Guadalahara, Mexico when I was 19. I'll never forget that experience.
My #2...
I have an Associate Degree in Arts/Education and an Associate Degree in Specialized Technology/Culinary Arts.
I would love to combine them both and teach Culinary Arts but I would need to go back to school and finish up my Education Degree. I'm not going back to school!
