Here are a few suggestions from me:
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith - I read this in Jr. High & am sure missed a lot, so would love to re-read it.
"...a poignant and moving tale filled with compassion and cruelty, laughter and heartache, crowded with life and people and incident. The...
Karen, I think you're right. I - and every reading friend I've talked with who have finished this series - feel the same way. It felt like this book should have been more than one book most likely and that the author was rushing to fit everything into the last few chapters to either meet a...
I love Fablehaven! Trying to get my oldest daughter to read it now. :)
Hm. Not sure if it's "good" fantasy, but definitely kept my attention - have you tried Cassandra Clare's Mortal Insturments series?
A lot of people like Robin McKinley for fantasy, though in my experience her stories...
Thank you for sharing your post-reading thoughts, LouJane! I LOVE John Green (we like to watch his Mental Floss vlog posts), but have yet to read any of his books. I hear people raving about them, so have had TFIOS on my TBR list for a long time.....I was thinking I should try and read it...
Hi, Millicent! I enjoyed Giver as well. It was probably my first dystopian read and definitely thought provoking.
I thought you'd want to know that it actually is part of a 3 book trio - and there is a 4th companion book that came out in 2012...
I get the appeal for others, but have never enjoyed it myself. For me, it feels like having the same conversation with a friend that we've already had. Though I love the friend, I don't want to repeat our previous experience exactly.
I prefer to read a sequel or prequel so I still have access...
Răspunsul, I'm still getting my bearings here, and looking for simpler ways of doing things, but for now you should be able to at least post images that are stored online by clicking on the picture icon (the box that looks like it has mountains & a sun in it) next to the smiley face when you're...
I definitely have a weakness for YA. :) I find that they tend to be more intense and compelling for me to read than most other things - so definitely good for exiting a reading slump. :D
I haven't read any Rainbow Rowell - will have to check those out. I definitely adore Stephanie Perkins...
Those look good too! I'm going to edit my post to add some of the others on my list. I was trying to add cover images and it was making things take too long, so I'll just use text now. :)
I'm always looking forward to way more book releases than I can actually read! :)
The biggest ones for me this year are:
February
Cress (The Lunar Chronicles #3) by Marissa Meyer (came out 2/4)
Ignite Me (Shatter Me #3) by Tahereh Mafi (came out 2/4)
I met Tahereh a couple years ago, btw...
