Dean Koontz

I bought Frankenstein - Prodigal Son yesterday, but it will be ages until I get around to reading it. Too many books, not enough time. :rolleyes:
 
I borrowed 'By the light of the moon' from the library this weekend. My first Dean Koontz book.
Read some 100+ pages and I like it so far. I should have read this thread before borrowing the book :D

I just finished reading 'Midnight', Dizzy. I really enjoyed it. Thanks!
 
I'm reading "Watchers" and I"m really enjoying it. I've been in a reading slump for a while where everything I read is just bland and boring to me no matter what the book is, but this novel pulled me out of it.

I've read a few of his books before, but the only ones I can remember reading are Mr. Murder and False Memory. I loved them both greatly! I'm planning on borrowing Odd Thomas and the Frankenstein book next.
 
I'm about 3/4 of the way through The Taking. I used to read a lot of Koontz books, but this is the first one I've picked up in a while, and I'm disappointed to say that it's a slog to get through. I just can't feel for the main character at all as she seems insipid and lacklustre. I think my favourite Koontz book was The Bad Place.
 
Right now, I'm in the middle of reading an older Dean Koontz book, Winter Moon, it's very hmm....shall I say, mysterious! I'm sure this book will be a lot more exciting in the next 50 or so pages. One of the characters is an eccentric, he's a good character, interesting.

Shaun, my mum found The Taking slow too. I haven't got around to reading it yet.

Pearl, after I read Watchers, I read Fear Nothing, which is another fantastic book. The plot is good, + it links up with Watchers. I suggets you read it soon!

The voice of the night is a dean koontz book i enjoyed, not one of his best, personally phantoms is my fave .

Oh come on. It's alright to slag an author off, but you could at least provide some basis for your judgement as opposed to, 'It's garbage'.
 
I believe "garbage" is a succinct, fairly polite means of stating that the man writes crap. Nothing further need be said.

As I posted earlier, I struck nerve. Apparently, more than one.

It's a valid question, Rex. What do you base your opinion on? Because if you haven't read any of his books, then your opinion isn't worth the time it took you to write it.

How would I know he writes garbage if I had not read some of his material?

Assume what you wish.

Koontz writes krap. The only reason he is making money is because there are people with low standards who will read anything his computer vomits.
 
I read 'By the light of the moon' and was disappointed with the climax, the writing and the book, in general. I don't think I want to try another book of his.
 
I haven't read any Koontz yet, but I've picked up several of his because of good things I've read here. Hopefully I will get one or two read this summer. :) Here's what I've got:
Phantoms
Watchers
Lightning
Night Chills
Tick Tock
Fear Nothing

I was wondering if I should read 'Seize the Night' before 'Fear Nothing'. Is it a part one, or just another book with the same main character? :confused:

Fear Nothing is the first part of the Christopher Snow series, so you should read that first, then get Seize the Night later if you like it. That series is my favorite of Koontz's work, still waiting for him to bring out the third book! (Its getting on for seven or eight years since the first book and he keeps promising the third).
