Speaking of Africa: Africa is really big.

That's an amazing graphic.

And since we're showing examples, here's a map published on Financial Times (13/10/2007)

In case you're wondering the land north of Algarve is the rest of Portugal and not Spain... Granted that Portugal is a small country, but nevertheless it is not just Algarve...

Speaking of lack of geography lessons, this makes me weep blood.

By the way Referendum 71 is very close to being approved. There is another issue going on here as well to determine whether or not the signers of the petition (to get the referendum on the ballot) have a right to remain anonymous despite state law for diclosing such information.

Okay, back to geography.

With the option of Disney Paris, I think I know which would be chosen.:whistling:

Then you think wrong. :whistling:

Disneyland Paris is one small theme park. Disneyworld Folrida has four parks and two Universal Parks down the road as well as Bushgardens, etc...... need I go on?

You have flown kids under the age of 7 across the Atlantic? Do tell.

No I'm not a pilot but I have flown across the Atlantic many times as a passenger and there are always many children and babies on board. ;)

I think many folk who live in the USA think of the USA as America instead of it just being part of America. But when they refer to the UK they do the opposite and think of the UK as Europe. And that brings us back to geography.

Well then my geography teacher failed in his job because he taught us that the UK is part of Europe.

It is part of Europe, just not ALL there is to the continent. This is what bugs everyone outside the US about how we 'Americans' view ourselves. We tend to see the USA as the defining geographical term for our entire hemisphere. We aren't the only nation in North and South America.

When we go to Greece they say "The Americans are here" lol

And they're right.. you ARE Americans:flowers:

No place is exempt from this sort of thing...Here in Kansas, one way you can detect a native Kansan is by how we call that river that runs through the southern portion of our great state. To the rest of the world, the Arkansas River is called the Ar-Kan-Saw River...to the average Kansas native..or atleast those raised near the river, that's the ar-KANSAS...and to be fair, Ar-Kan-Saw City wouldn't sound right if we said it that way. It just sounds better to say 'ar-Kansas City..or Ark City for short. Quirky lot, we Kansans:lol:

We are a small island floating about 22 miles off the coast of Europe, but for some historical reason we are seen as part of Europe. We use the term 'visit the Continent' or 'go to the Continent' as though we are not part of it. A bit like Hawaii, I guess.

We were quite happy that way until some idiot thought it would be a good idea to dig a tunnel under the English Channel across to France.

Hawaii... to me they are Pacific Islanders...
So Brits are Atlantic Islanders?

- I say, chaps, let's all go to the luau.
- Smashing idea, old sport. I simply cannot wait to hang, as it were, ten down at Brighton beach. Aloha and all that.
