Death Proof. Tarantino is fucking BACK. The hell with twist endings, religious mysteries, dark explorations of the human psyche and CGI effects; this is a movie that growls like a 440 engine, stinks of gasoline and kicks like a pissed-off stuntwoman, and that's not even metaphor. It's deceptively simple - there's a whole layer of metacommentary - but above all, it's the most fun I've had in a movie theatre in years. This movie ROARS.

When a Stranger Calls .. Its was Fine .. I Mean I like Disturbia more than this .. Cause the ending wasn't heroic enough I guess .. BTW I saw it at home .. @ the Showtime's home cenima lol

Pirates 3 - it was okay, I guess. Better than the 2nd.
Grandma's Boy - for some reason, I really like this movie! Thought it was hiLARIOUS!!! ... It's a "Happy Madison" movie.
The Sure Thing - Haven't seen this in awhile. 19-year-old John Cusack is so cute!!!
Must Love Dogs - Can't stand Romantic Comedies... won't watch more than one a year. If Cusack wasn't in this, I wouldn't have watched it. 39-year-old Cusack is incredibly sexy!

On Wednesday, my boyfriend, his friend, & I saw Hostel II (same people with whom I saw Hostel I). Very fun. We had drinks and discussed it in depth. John Cusack describes films such as this as "torture porn."
I think the first had more gore... the 2nd was slower, but interesting. The "twist" at the end was obvious, predictable (so was the scene at the beginning). I enjoyed it. I'd like to watch it again.
We went home & while the boys played LOTR: The Shadows of Angmar, I watched Zombie's "House of a 1000 Corpses." I think it was better the 2nd time, but still stupid. It was nice seeing Rainn Wilson in it now that I know who he is.
Then I continued my John Cusack movie marathon:

Con Air.. oh, how I love Con Air! Such a fun movie.
John Malkovich & Steve Buscemi are great in it... as well as Dave Chapelle. He cracks me up.

More John Cusack...
So, a few days ago, I watched Runaway Jury. John Cusack & Rachel Weisz are super cute together! I also really like that movie. I've seen it a couple times in the past & got it on DVD a few years ago for an incredibly inexpensive price.
Today, my Mother & I went out and saw 1408. And let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed. This is indeed different from the "torture-porn" that's out there (Hostel, Saw, etc. - don't get me wrong, I love those type of movies too)... 1408 may scare you in a different way. It's great.
I've read the short story... it's been about 4 years since I've read it. I remember thinking it was the best in Everything's Eventual. The visual you get in King's writing is amazing. But the movie's adaptation was wonderful. You won't have to be comparing this with the short story.
Oh! My boyfriend & I saw Crash earlier this year... yeah, we also heard good things and decided to check it out. We enjoyed it. I think I posted on it somewhere here on B&R.

I saw Apocalypto the other night and thought it was pretty good. It got pretty intense there for the last half of the movie, and I have a new appreciation for the Mayan culture. Mel Gibson has one again done a good job elaborating on another time period and culture.

Art School Confidential. An aspiring artist gets accepted to a prestigious New York school and finds out that most art students/professors are pretentious and shallow. Oh, and there's a murderer on the campus. Not bad (worth watching more than once, actually) but could have been great if the subplot with the murderer was improved or dropped from the film altogether.

It's a title that can only be expressed properly through cap locks. First off, it's the only Blockbuster movie of the Summer to not disappoint me (how could you, Spider-Man?), and the action is actually very, veryfun to watch, even if it is turgid and at times hard to figure out what's going on.
The only complaint I have with it is that Optimus Prime seems to be a wanna-be philosopher throughout parts of the movie, but other than that, it's fine.
And on a side note, I read plenty of reviews to keep myself entertained and noticed that a reoccuring complaint was that the human characters were too shallow or cardboard-like. I won't agree with this consensus but won't entirely disagree with it, either.
However, it's a movie about robots, and it delivers what it promised. Oh, and the humor thrown in is great, too. I laughed more in this film than I have with the last three shitty comedies I've seen.

Equilibrium - I liked it a great deal. I was fearing that it was going to be a disappointing movie, but I'm glad that I was wrong.

Beyond the Valley of the Dolls - love the music. The movie itself is hilarious & bizarre.
Summer Lovers - I'm ready for an island hopping adventure in Greece. Peter Gallagher bothers me, but everything else is very beautiful.

I watched The Illusionist with my sisters a couple of weeks ago. I really loved this movie - I thought it was beautifully done and I liked that they did it all in an older style because it made it more interesting. Good flick.
I'm dying to see Transformers but my husband and I haven't gotten to the theater to see it yet. Now he's going out of town so it will be at least another week... sigh.
Oh - I saw Ocean's 13, too. I like it, but I felt like they were trying to make up for the second one by adding so much humor. I'm still undecided on whether I like it as much as the first one. But it was worth seeing and I was definitely entertained.
