The biggest problem with the Ignore feature is that you can't put the moderators that you would like to ignore on the ignore list.
That is true, however you do sometimes have to read what they have written - people can't claim ignorance due to the fact they have a moderator on ignore.

I agree with Ell, i'm hurt that people want to ignore us :(

The 'ignore' feature helps you avoid posts from those you find aggravating. The downside is that you might miss part of an interesting discussion.
I have used it in the past when I found certain users posts to be intensely annoying - however my curious nature gets in the way and as Ell states, you may miss out on an interesting discussion - or at least the discussion is disrupted.

So far, nobodies offered up any suggestions on how to handle this alleged situation.

Even if there's an identifiable problem, what's there to be done about it..other than ignore it?

The solution comes from the ever-so-motherly quote: "If you have nothing nice to say..."

By the way, I love moderators... ;) They are the backbone of the forum world.

(hopes flattery will reduce number of warnings issued)

N'ah... that's just brown sunscreen. It's ninety degrees here in California, and it's starting to rain.

Another Thumper fan!!

I was one of the people who voted that I was a bit annoyed and feel that we as a forum may need to act. So far, it's only regular, frequent TBF'ers who are responding to these alleged 'trolls'. What concerns me is that new forum members are going to think that disrespectful comments are the norm and surmise that the environment of the forum is other than the friendly, accepting place that I know it to be.

So, what to do? Well, if I were a mod I would wait it out and see if it continues, I think. If that is the case, then the mods should issue some warnings. In addition to the 'troll', I think warnings should also be issued to any regular TBF'er who is intentionally provoking the 'troll'. I should note that I'm not thinking of anyone in particular in that thought, just that a 'troll' is only a 'troll' when people encourage them. Hopefully things will settle down and none of this will be necessary, though. SFG - hopefully you've helped by raising this discussion!

If a Mod is going to issue a warning, what would they be warning the "troll" against? Unless the offender personally attacks someone, advertises, or brings religion or politics into it, how can they be warned?

I didn't see anything in the rules about not being an annoying ass-hat. (which explains why I joined!)

To be able to issue a warning, I would think a change in the forum rules would be required, which might make some rethink their membership.

Same reason I joined... but I may be something other than a "hat".

Such as someone creating a psuedo username for one's alternate personality. Don't worry, I won't mention any names.

I think this one is actually in there Not_... I mean SirMyk.

That wouldn't surprise me at all, it's paintfully obvious once you look at a given person's posting style.

I find it odd, only two of the non-mods posting in this thread have been here over a year and the rest are still green, myself included. I question the manners of "these" people that question the workings of the forum without paying their dues; it seems to me that these people that are trying to "teach" us about morals, should look at their own actions instead of trying to get the world to fit their view.

Ya Krunk'd and Shade, said everything else I wanted to say.

Tar and feather the ones doing the complaining.

There is no situation. That's pretty clear from this thread.

i find the occasional troll amusing when he/she comes along. dealing with them can be a bit like a work out.:)

I've not seen very much trolling on here so I'd say its a pretty small problem on here.
