The world's greatest biscuits.

In my travels I have always tried to sample the local cuisine in biscuit form. Australia boasts the mighty TimTam, the US has the delectable Double Stuf Oreo, most of western Europe seems enamoured with the delicious chocolate Leiniz, and we in the UK are proud to host the mighty chocolate Hobnob.

There are many places I've never been. Many biscuits I've never seen. With the international presence we have here on the book forum, I feel this is my perfect opportunity to attain biscuity enlightenment.

What I should like is for you all to share with me the best biscuit your country has to offer. Name them, describe them, (send me vast quantities of them :D ) and then if ever I should visit your nation in the future I'll know exactly what biscuits to stock up on.

It really depends on what you're looking for in a biscuit.

Do you want soft and chewy? The Keebler Soft Batch chocolate chip cookies are the best out of the bag.

Do you want crunchier? Its hard to go wrong with an Oreo (of any variety).

Do you want something with a fruity taste? Fig Newtons (caramel apple are the best) are delicious.

Do you mind making them from a box? Snickerdoodles are delicious and take hardly any time to make out of the box.

What makes a good biscuit for you? It might make it easier to recommend the top biscuit from each country if we know what you're looking for...there are so many different choices.

I like so many different biscuits, it would be hard to narrow it down. I don't like dried fruit though. Soft and chewy can be just as good for a cookie as hard and crunchy. Are the caramel apple fig newtons, figgy as well? I don't like figgy. They would have to be disqualified. I shall add Keebler to my list though.

No the Caramel Apple ones aren't figgy, which is why I like them. I'm not a big fan of the fig-taste, either. They really do taste like yummy caramel apples (with a ton of caramel).

Well thanks alot! Because of "you people," after I drop my dog, Cicero, off at the groomers i'm going to go buy some cooooooookies :) I post what I get in about 1.5 hrs. May the Force be with us!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a thread about biscuits one of the first signs of the apocalypse?

I believe it is! :p

Carry on ...

Cheers

No, just one of the first signs of me gaining 100 lbs.

Of course, with the amount of wedding cake I've had in the past two weeks, I think I've already begun the addition of 100 lbs :( ;)

Chocolate chip bikkies are the bast! :D
A traditionalist I see.

The caramel apple ones certainly sound intriguing. The chocolate digestives you can get with a layer of caramel in them are good. And they used to do chocolate digestives with chocolate chips in them, but I haven't seen them in ages. I think Jestives are no more as well. Very sad that.

What about Biscuits and Gravy???? Yummy!

Wrong sort of biscuits. Only sweet biscuits, and cookies, are acceptable in this thread. The scone type of biscuit is for a different discussion.

add some colorful
