Vladimir Nabokov: Lolita

 Well...you have your assignment.

Mr. Phelps, if you or any of your IMF are caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. :D ;)

Pontalba,
She sure was a comedown for the man who could see nymphets! And to think she might have been his long term future if Lo hadn't written?

Pontalba,
Never fear! I shall catch my man! I shall corner him hiding under a book somewhere. :)

Pontalba, I just had a thought. It isn't completely impossible that that the teensiest little bit of what VN wrote was (perhaps subconsciously) intended to amuse (and possibly please) his "first reader", editor and typist, don't you think? ;)

Why not? I thought it was a wonderfully funny aside. I mean really, can't you just picture, Rita sprawled out, less than shall we say conscious, and here comes Humbert, hysterical over Lolita, and there he goes, taping a note to her navel!!

I know! I know! But it was true!
Anyway, go over, play the game at SFG's Birthday Party. And then join in the laughing crowd standing around the picture of our V.P.

steffee! Those butterflies were unintentional?  :D

Honestly, they were... the caption underneath says "you still give me butterflies" and it was Valentine's Day the other day, and my husband was working away, and so we were emailing each other... the joys of modern communication eh? and I really liked the butterfly pic, and it's even the wallpaper on my mobile  and then I liked it sooooo much I changed it to my avatar, and so now you know my life story LOL

But I like it even more now, and I think it's a sign... next Nabokov coming right up, it's between Pnin, Transparent Things and Pale Fire :D
