Vladimir Nabokov

That's it!

It was expensive though, almost five pounds!

I just assumed it would come in a powdery form like ordinary coffee lol :)

Chicory by itself does come ground, looking exactly like ground coffee. But I did, the last time I ordered chicory, order an extract of coffee and chicory from the American Coffee Company in New Orleans and its liquid, that you're supposed to only have to add water or milk to. Its the French Market brand I spoke of earlier. I haven't tried it yet though. This concentrate, as they call it was 5.00 US dollars. I think the bottle is 12 ounces.

btw, your new avatar is pretty. :)

Have we decided which book we're all going to read together/discuss yet? I've got three that I've not read yet: Glory, Ada, Invitation to a Beheading. Of the three I'd prefer to go with 'Glory' next. I've only glanced through it quickly and it looks interesting enough. Not that the others don't. Actually, I'm being a little selfish:eek: If first appearances can be trusted it looks the least complex (and not too long) and I'll be able to read it even though I've got overseas visitors coming over for a couple of weeks.

What do y'all think?

I agree with choosing a not-too-complex one this time. I loved Pnin for that reason. My poor brain can't cope with an Ada-type again just yet, lol :)

Does that mean you're up for 'Glory'. Do you sit among the clouds with Pontalba and Peder in owning just about 'eveything' Nabokov:D

And please no Ada (right now) - you're so right our brains need a rest. A little relaxation not that Pnin wasn't relaxing.

Yeah I'm up for Glory.

No, I own barely any:
Lolita
The Enchanter
Ada
The Gift
Despair

And I've just ordered:
Glory
Pale Fire

So as I wouldn't be left out in case we did start reading Glory. It's being shipped from Amazon on or around the 22nd, so I should have it by the end of the week.

LOL You guys are too much! :D

Do I sense a groundswell for Glory? It sounds good to me too. So we can see what everyone else says and go from there. I suspect that Ada is right alongside Pale Fire for complexity. I mean really, Boyd didn't write a companion to the both of them for nothing.....

Sounds like we may be on to a winner - well the two of us anyway. Yoo hoo, where y'all at? What do you think? Is it to be Glory? Come out, come out wherever you are:)

Hey, how did you get there? Do you think if we shout all together the others will come out to play too? On three.... One, two, three......

Yeah, till 10 tonight. I thought that was a long time for that myself. But its more to the north of us.

And here's hoping it stays well to the north. Not that I'd wish a tornado on any one but we've got enough trees down as it is. I reckon it will take the better part of a year to get them up cleared up.:(

Pontalba, Breaca,
Ook for the tornado watch! :( I sure do wish it misses your devastated neighborhood.

And what was that big design Pontalba? Starting a quilt?

Re Glory, yup I'm on board! :)

In fact, I finished it already. j/k j/k :D

Peder

Yeah, he says he is kidding....it wouldn't surprise me one bit! ;)

Its raining a bit here now. Just a light but steady rain.
